Helen was born on March 20, 1939, in the charming beach town of Bradenton Beach, Florida. She lived a full and vibrant life rooted in faith, family, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around her.
Helen was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took pride in the close bonds she nurtured throughout her life. She is lovingly survived by her three children: Herschel "Butch" L. Day(Julie) , Robert Day, and Dara Lynn Baker(Robert); her brother Ernest Brown; her sister Lois Ann Brown; her six grandchildren; and her four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Marie E. Brown, as well as her parents, William"Bill"Brown and Pearl Brown.
Helen had a joyful spirit and a heart full of curiosity. She loved attending church and found great comfort and purpose in her faith. She had a passion for collecting trinkets, a hobby that reflected her love for life's little treasures and memories. A true explorer at heart, she cherished every opportunity to travel, especially to national parks, where she found peace and inspiration in nature's grandeur.
Helen spent many years serving the Miami-Dade Public School System as a Cafeteria Manager—a role she deeply enjoyed. Her work nourished not only bodies but also spirits, and she was known for her kindness, dependability, and genuine love for the children and staff she served.
Above all, Helen was happiest when surrounded by her family. Her legacy lives on in the stories shared, the laughter echoed, and the love passed down through generations.
In honor of Helen’s memory, the family encourages donations to a national park foundation or a local church of your choosing.
She will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever in our heart, and as we say goodbye, we take comfort in the words of Matthew 11:28:
“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying your heavy loads, and I will give you rest.”
A visitation will be held at Caballero Rivero Palms Woodlawn, located at 27100 Old Dixie Hwy, Naranja, FL 33032, on August 4, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
