James Wesley Spear was born in Titusville, Florida, on January 26, 1952 to Robert H. Spear Jr. and Mary Frances Spear. James, raised in the Nazarene church and part of a heritage of pastors before him, dedicated his life to the Lord at six years old.
He graduated from Vanguard High School in Ocala, Florida, in 1970 and with a BS in Business from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1974. He then received his Masters in Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1978.
He married the love of his life, Cynthia Ann Mosley, in 1973 and moved to pastor his first church in Kenneth City, St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1978. The Spear family was called to serve at Fresno Grace Church of the Nazarene in 1980. Six years later, they relocated to Sapulpa Church of the Nazarene in 1985. In 1991, James was called back to Florida to shepherd the Princeton Church of the Nazarene. During this time, he led many to experience the true love of Jesus, leading by example and rooted in God’s word.
James is survived by Ann, his wife of 48 years, as well as Christopher and Michael, their sons, his sister, Roberta Joy Wilson, and brother, Robert Allen Spear.
