Norma was more than a Leisure City K-8 colleague, she was a good friend.  Through the years, we shared life's ups and downs over many cups of coffee.  Even after I moved from South Florida, we kept in touch with occasional phone calls to catch up on each other's family and share news about common friends.   Norma loved her students.  Her kind and gentle way of speaking to them let them know that to her they were indeed important little people.  She loved her friends.  Her door was always open and she was genuinely interested in whatever you had to say.  If  you needed help,  she was there to do whatever she could for you.  But most of all, she loved her family.   She loved sharing stories of their accomplishments or cute tales of her grandchildren's antics as they grew.   Her family was everything to her and she was so very proud of all of you.   We  will miss her terribly but she has left an indelible imprint on all the lives she touched during her journey here on earth.  Rest in peace, dear friend.

 Norma welcomed me into her home as I was there to visit Alan Anderson, her nephew and my Godson from northern Iowa. I was surprised when Norma said she remembered me as the Maid of Honor at the wedding of her brother Richard and Mardelle, my best friend, in the late 1960s. 
 I enjoyed two more visits with Norma and Alan. The third visit, I met Vickie who became Mrs. Anderson.
 Norma was a caring, joyful and loving person, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She is now in the loving presence of God.


Dear Shane, Vanya, Carrie and Richie,
I first met your Mom over 20 years ago  when she first joined our Leisure City Elementary family. What a caring and compassionate person and teacher she was, she loved her Leisure City kids and I also learned so much from working with her through those years.
 That care and compassion was exemplified when she and Norman brought Carrie and Richie in to join your family, how she loved you all.
After retirement we remained friends and we enjoyed chatting over cups of tea while admiring her butterfly garden, I will miss those times.
Shane, I know you will miss her dearly, but right now she is up there with Norman, wearing his favorite apricot dress swaying to that Jamaican music! God Bless you all.
