Pablo Alberto Decena Lugo passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on April 17, 1940, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Pablo carried the soul of the island in his heart—a man whose presence brought joy, laughter, and quiet wisdom wherever he went.
With a heritage as vibrant as the Caribbean sun, Pablo embraced his Dominican roots with pride. His journey took him from the lively streets of Santo Domingo to the rhythm of New York City, through the heart of Philadelphia and New Jersey, before settling in the warmth of Homestead, Florida. No matter where life took him, he brought with him a deep love for family, tradition, and the little things that made life beautiful.
Pablo was a loving father to seven children and is survived by six, who, along with many family members and friends, continue to honor the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy built on resilience, affection, and an unshakable sense of unity.
He had a deep appreciation for music—it filled his home and heart, and was the soundtrack to many family gatherings. Whether it played softly in the background or accompanied moments of laughter and reflection, music was his way of staying connected to his roots and to those he loved.
Pablo was the head of the family—a steady presence marked by quiet strength, commitment, and unwavering love. He guided his loved ones with firm hands and a soft heart, always leading by example and showing up when it mattered most.
His memory lives on not only through his children, but through every warm meal shared, every story passed down, and every life he touched with his generosity and grace.
Descansa en paz, Papi. Tu esencia vive en cada uno de nosotros.
