Allan Francis Lenois

Allan Francis Lenois, 93, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, New Hampshire. With him were his loving wife, Marion Lenois née Welsh; his daughter Cori Ryan née Lenois and her husband, Bill Ryan; and his son Christopher and his wife, Samirah Evans-Lenois. Allan regarded his children’s spouses as his own, often saying he was immensely proud of “all four of his kids.” In addition, Allan is survived by his brother Robert Lenois; his sisters-in-law Joan Astell née Welsh and Sheila Sweeny née Welsh; 19 nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends from Vernon Village.

Allan was born on June 30, 1933, in Montague City, Massachusetts to Josephine Brozo (Brzozowa) and Ralph Lenois. He spent his youth playing with his many cousins in Turners Falls, enjoying family picnics with his numerous aunts and uncles, and visiting his grandmother, Marcyanna Brzozowa née Nadołek, who always had a loaf of fresh baked bread she prepared just for him. In his teen years, Allan played any instrument needed for a Polka band and would delight his nieces by playing the accordion when they visited. At age 16, he applied his boy scout training to save the lives of his father and brother who were severely injured in a basement explosion.

Allan graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1952. He was working at Koch’s Store in Montague serving as butcher, postal clerk, and sales associate when a young woman came into the store who caught his eye and won his heart. He took her boating, serenaded her on his saxophone, and proposed to her by the Falls. Allan married Marion Welsh on November 22, 1958, at St. Mary’s in Turners Falls. They rarely spent a day apart for the next 67 years.

Allan completed accounting courses through the mail and was hired as an accountant by Cersosimo Lumber Company in Brattleboro, Vermont. in 1970, he moved his family into the first lot of the Vernon Village housing development in Vernon, where he raised his family and lived until retirement in 1997. His home was a favorite place for neighborhood kids to gather as well as Allan’s legendary pool parties and neighborhood cookouts. He loved playing the organ, filling his home with music, and if the windows were open, filling the neighborhood with music.

Throughout the years, Allan advanced to the roles of CFO and Vice President at Cersosimo Lumber Company. Under his leadership, the company began providing health insurance to all full-time employees and planted countless trees for future generations. Allan also provided accounting services for individuals and local businesses, including for his friend Lenny Peduzzi when he opened Mama Peduzzi’s Pizzaria in Brattleboro, Vermont.

As a father, Allan was excited to take his family to Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots games, “mystery rides” to the movies or the creemee stand, snowmobiling, Sunday brunches, and boating on the Connecticut River. He coached his son’s little league baseball team the year they won the Tri-County Youth League Championship and sponsored “The Lenoismakers” softball team the year they won the Brattleboro Town League Division 5 Championship.

Allan enjoyed gardening, especially harvesting potatoes, and provided his family with fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the summer. He taught his daughter how to cultivate food and to plant and care for flowers and trees. They spent one summer building a boathouse together from foundation to rooftop. They shared an interest in photography and Allan taught his daughter everything he knew. The two also repaired and refinished a secondhand baby grand piano to perfection. It was enjoyed by his family for decades and is now used by the Vernon Advent Christian Church.

Allan traveled the world with his wife, visiting many places including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Turkey. He and his wife enjoyed Mardi Gras in New Orleans with Jan and Lenny Peduzzi and vacationed in Greece with Pam and Tony Cersosimo in celebration of his retirement. Allan especially enjoyed cruises and meeting new people.

After retirement, Allan and his wife moved to Summerfield, Florida where they enjoyed golf and gardening year-round, spending time on their pontoon boat, relaxing with their cat Izzy on their laps, and visiting with family.

In 2020, they moved to Swanzey, New Hampshire to be closer to their children and lifelong friends. The family gatherings in Keene brought absolute joy to Allan’s heart, especially seeing his nephew Paul Lenois arrive after hours of travel with his daughters Julia and Emma and his wife, Ashley Steele. He also enjoyed visits from his goddaughter Carole Rugg, whom he absolutely adored. He also enjoyed watching the games on TV with Chris, chatting about farming and family with Cori and Bill, hearing Samirah talk about music, and sitting next to the love of his life. He always expressed admiration for her, often reflecting on his great fortune in having her in his life. He was extremely grateful for his family and proud of how close everyone was. He will be remembered for his warm smile that charmed everyone he met and his infinite love for family.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the ER staff at Cheshire Medical Center for the exceptional care they provided for Allan, and to Cherron Faulkner for her help and support. A private service will be held for friends and family.

Allan had a sign in his office that read, “He who plants a tree loves others besides himself." In memory of Allan, love your family and plant a tree.
