
Anastasia Rood, 80, a lifelong resident of the Nashua, NH/Hudson, NH area passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at her home in Nashua. She was born in Nashua on August 19, 1932, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Agnes (Dokou) Tomou. She was educated in the Nashua public schools and a graduate of Nashua High School.
Ms. Rood had worked for Sanders Associates and later as an appointment scheduler for Dr. Gosselin’s office. She had attended St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church. Ms. Rood enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, playing bingo and taking trips to Foxwoods. She also enjoyed listening to as well as playing classical music on the piano. She loved her cat, Sasha, and also loved her grandchildren very much. She was a proud, strong and fiercely independent woman who could be outspoken at times, but you always knew where she stood on things.
She is survived by a son; Nicholas Rood of California, a daughter; Agnes Vlahos and her husband Alex of Merrimack, NH, by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son; William Rood in 2009 and by a sister; Anna Christopolos.
A visiting hour was held Monday, February 18, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. The burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua in the spring. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her kind friends at Xavier House who were always available to lend a helping hand, and a special thanks to Gloria and Ernie F. for being such good friends.
