Barbara (Mungall) Weiss, 82, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024, in Hudson, New Hampshire. Barbara was born February 23, 1942, to Robert and Arlene Mungall in Wilbraham, MA.
At the age of 15, Barbara moved with her family to Auburn, New York where she attended high school and was active in athletics and making lifelong friends. After graduation from AHS, Barbara attended Cornell University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Rural Sociology and later a master’s degree in Education from the University of New Hampshire. Barbara went on to have a very successful professional career in a variety of different fields including social work, outside sales, and recruiting. Barbara enjoyed life to the fullest and had many hobbies, including golfing, playing cards, painting, camping, boating, and fishing. She was also a talented singer with a love for music and dancing. Her favorite passion, bar none, was being with her family and making those around her feel happy and loved.
Barbara had an incredible sense of humor and a magnetic personality that lit up a room. She loved to make people laugh and was never short on an entertaining conversation. She was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law who made it her life’s mission to make each one of her children and grandchildren feel like they were unconditionally loved and show everyone the true meaning of family. Barbara had many amazing friends as well, who enjoyed her kindness, sense of adventure, and compassion for each one of them.
Barbara loved engaging in many outdoor activities. She was an avid golfer and gardener, and enjoyed a lifetime of adventures including camping, canoeing, hiking, and birdwatching. She particularly loved being in and around water. Among her favorites, she loved swimming and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire or Owasco Lake in Auburn, New York. She also loved fly-fishing in the White Mountains and deep-sea fishing off the coast of New England and Florida. She was passionate about nature and would often stop what she was doing to enjoy a moment watching wildlife, such as an eagle swooping down on the lake or a bluebird on a feeder. She truly enjoyed life and all its wonder and passed that passion on to her family. Barbara was fond of saying “bluebirds make me happy”.
Barbara loved her husband Robert (Bob) Weiss and cherished the past two decades with him immensely. They had many adventures together including trips to Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii. They also enjoyed many camping and fishing excursions throughout New England and Florida.
