Calisto Medeiros Calouro, 88, of Nashua, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 2, 2021. Born on September 17, 1932 in Sao Miguel Island, Azores Portugal, he was the son of the late Mateliano and Idalina (Grota) Calouro.
Originally, from Sao Miguel Island Azores, Portugal, Calisto enjoyed gardening and making homemade wine from his grapevines, which he used to supply the wine for the Portuguese Holy Ghost Feast of Nashua for over 25 years. Calisto was a devoted Catholic who prayed the rosary every day. He moved to Nashua in 1978, and had worked at the local Batesville Casket Company for more than 25 years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, planting and gardening, dinners and dances, and watching Portuguese soccer games.
He is survived by his daughter Dina Torres and husband Jose; son Miguel Pombeiro and his wife Natividade; grandchildren Michael Pombeiro and his wife Nora, Kevin Pombeiro and his wife Jaileen, Joe Torres and his wife Jennifer, Alison Torres and her husband Nuno Veiga; great grandchildren Vanessa Veiga, Mia Pombeiro, Aron Pombeiro, Alexender Pombeiro, Julien Torres, Aundre Torres; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years Hortencia Medeiros Calouro; sisters Isabel Couto, Eduarda Reis; and brothers Jose Calouro, and Augelo Calouro.
A visitation will be held on from 6pm to 8pm on Friday August 6, 2021 at Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home located at 26 Kinsley St, Nashua NH. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on Saturday August 7, 2021 at Infant Jesus Church located at 121 Allds St, Nashua NH, with a burial following at Woodlawn Cemetery located at 101 Kinsley St, Nashua NH.
