July 7, 1928 – April 25, 2017
Claire Muzzey Lemieux passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Claire was born in Derry, NH on July 7, 1928. She grew up in Derry and graduated from Pinkerton Academy as valedictorian of her senior class. A graduate of Hesser College, she was executive secretary to Roscoe Ammon, a prominent Manchester entrepreneur and aviation and space pioneer. She married Roy Lemieux on February 11, 1956 and they settled in Nashua to raise their family.
Claire was the most dedicated stay-at-home mom, focusing her life on her husband and two children for many years. As her children grew up, Claire returned to working part time for the Nashua School System in various secretarial roles, retiring in 1995 from Elm St Junior High School. In 2003, Claire moved to Nottingham, NH in 2003 to live with her daughter and son in-law.
An articulate and classy lady, and lifetime vegetarian, she enjoyed family, friends, traveling, the atmosphere of casinos, watching the birds at her window feeder, and appreciating the spring daffodils and her favorite vegetable, the tomato. Always inquisitive, she adapted and adopted technology and learned to use a computer while in her 70’s. She truly enjoyed playing her favorite Pogo computer games, exploring the internet, emailing friends and family, and, of course, shopping on Amazon.
A passionate reader, she was still reading a book a week as well, right up to her recent illness.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Claire was predeceased by her husband Roy and sister Elaine Uicker. She is survived by her son Michael Lemieux and wife Maureen of Nashua, daughter Nicole Mazalewski and husband Ray of Nottingham, sister Irene Muir of Bow, NH, grandchildren Kevin and Krystin Lemieux of Nashua, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hyder Family Hospice House, 285 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820, or to a charity of your choice.
