Dolores Alice Mattern Ulmer, 89, was born in Leck Hill, Penn. to a farm family. Alvin her father was a blacksmith and her mother Nora Mattern was sweet as pie.
The youngest of 8 children, she was the spunky, confident darling of the family. ‘Lori’ became a nurse anesthetist working at Philadelphia hospital where she met her future husband Edward, a concert pianist and college professor. They married in 1962. Moving to NH, she first worked at Concord Hospital. Their son, Edward was born in 1964 and daughter, Kristen, in 1966.
To be closer to her kids, Lori landed at New England College where she assisted students at the health center. She became a Real Estate Agent, invested in rental properties, and earned a BA in business. Lori was a passionate tennis player. Warm weather eventually took her to Melbourne Florida for over 25 years. Edward, his wife(Kami) and granddaughters Aria and Arden remember her constantly giggling in joy. Kristen is certain she’s never met a better person in her life.
