Edna M. Anagnost

September 21, 1932November 28, 2019

Edna Anagnost, 87, of Nashua, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Nashua on September 21, 1932, daughter of the late James and Madeline (Johnson) Annis. She was the devoted wife of Christos, a loving mother to her daughters Kristin and Susan, and an amazing YiaYia to her grandson Tyler, who was her pride and joy.

She was a lifelong resident of Nashua, and graduated from Nashua High School. She worked at the Nashua Public Library for 20 years, and loved working with her coworkers and the community.

She always claimed that she enjoyed cooking, but what she really enjoyed was eating, especially chocolate, ice cream, cupcakes, and key lime pie. She also loved a good cup of coffee. She enjoyed spending time at Wells Beach in the summer with her family and her cousin Joanne. She loved a good adventure, and took every opportunity she could to travel. In her retirement, she traveled to Europe with her daughters, her husband, and her friends. She also toured the National Parks with her frequent travel buddies, Sharon and Nancy. She enjoyed going out to eat, especially with her neighbor Jeanne.

She was very active in the Alzheimer’s Association, helping to organize and participating in their Memory Walk for many years. She even staged her own Memory Walk on the Champs-Elysees in Paris in 2007.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Greenbriar Nursing Home for the love and care she received over the last three years. We would also like to thank the staff of Home, Health, and Hospice Care for helping to ensure she was comfortable in her last year.

Edna is survived by her husband Christos, her daughter Kristin, her daughter Susan Hughes and her husband Mark Hughes, her grandson Tyler Hughes, her brother Edward Annis and his wife Elizabeth, and her cousin Joanne Anctil.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 9am-12pm at Zis-Sweeney and St Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St. Nashua, with a brief funeral service at 11:30am. Burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or Home, Health, and Hospice Care, Merrimack, NH.

The memories of family gatherings with your Mom, Eva and Arthur have always been so special to me. Your Mom’s warm smile and soft voice made me feel so welcomed.
Your Mom was a special lady who instilled wonderful gifts to her loving daughters.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Edna and I were born seven days apart at Memorial Hospital and shared schools from kindergarten through High School. As children, we spent much time together and in my mother's old diary, I see repeated references to "Edna Annis was here playing with Bobby." Later, we both worked at Sprague Electric. Although I have not seen Edna in recent years, I am much sadden by here death.
My heartfelt sympathy to all of her family.
