Words, condolences, thoughts or actions can't describe how sad I am that Ethan is gone. He was such a great part of the neighborhood, and such a wonderful face to see around. He was so genuine and kind, a true gentle giant. He was so happy to stop and talk while out walking Daisy, so fun to talk to and such a wonderful, bright spirit. He was clearly lifetimes older than the rest of us, so calm and patient. He always seemed so content whenever we got to talk, and had such a great attitude about life. I miss so much the excitement of my toddler hearing his Jeep coming up the road, or seeing my little boy excited to talk to him and play with Daisy. I honestly can't think about him being gone and not get a little misty eyed, if not teary.

In death, he reminds me so much about what it means to love one another and communicate that love while we still can. In these tumultuous times, we have to be honest with each other and be able to lean on our network for support. We cannot spend so much effort judging one another for our decisions or opinions. We are all the same flesh and blood, and only here for a fleeting moment. Don't waste your time making assumptions and judgements, rejoice in the time you have here while you've got it.

I'll miss you buddy. I'm glad to have known you.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of Ethan, I can't imagine the heartbreak you all must be going through.
Ethan was such a sweet, kind, intelligent kid who always took the time to say "hello" when I would see him and always stopped to pat Lola when he was in the office. That always made me smile.
If I ever needed help with something he was always willing to do what he could, just a kind, quiet soul, very wise beyond his years.
Mark & Edie, I am so very sorry for this huge loss in your life, & your family's life.
You all are in my thoughts & prayers at this extremely difficult time.

Ethan was a delightful young man and “old soul”. He had much wisdom and understanding well beyond his years. Extremely smart! A delight to work with. So thankful to have been able to spend some time with him through the last several years and see him mature into adulthood! Now we all must take our comfort in imagining him home in heaven with the Savior of all, Jesus Christ. Now fully radiating the Lord's glory. We shall see him again. We look forward to that glorious day when we are all together, redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. Sorrow of separation will turn to rejoicing as we reunite with all those who have gone before. God bless you, Ethan, and your parents, Mark and Edie, and all those you held up in love and who love you!

O God, from whom nothing can ever separate us, hold all that mourn safely in your hands. Surround us all with the light of your love and with assurances of love and safety. Help us all to find a way to live again and to know that, even in the most desperate of situations and most disastrous of events, you are there—unseen and unheard, perhaps, but nevertheless present and active in our broken and hurting lives. Hear our petitions and gratitude that you have accepted Ethan's immortal soul among those you cherish in your heavenly kingdom as we await your call to us to come home and reunite us all in your love. These requests I make in the name of the One who came that we might live anew. Amen.

In the short time I came to know Ethan, it was apparent that he was quick to like others and accepted everyone for who they are. He was friendly, cheerful and smart, deeply sensitive, and all of those characteristics made him a person you were happy to be around and looked forward to seeing. His loss is deeply felt by those of us who knew him even a little and no words can express the grief that must be felt by his family and closest friends. My thoughts are with you, his family, most of all.
