Janice, or “Jan” to those who knew her, was born on Oct 18th 1943 in Greenpoint Hospital, Brooklyn. She grew up in Woodhaven, Queens with her father, Walter, her mother, Margaret, brother, Bill, and Auntie Bobbie—whom she enjoyed many strolls down Jamaica Avenue with. Jan was a beautiful dancer, fierce mahjong player, lifelong student of history, and lover of animals (particularly the Florida manatees).
Jan was good at everything, really, but her proudest accomplishments were her girls and family. Jan is survived by her husband and dance partner, Fernand, Ferd (her “Ferdie”), with whom she shared 48 years of adventure and devotion.
She is also survived by her daughters, Colleen and Heather, sons Glenn and Gregg, their spouses, as well as her grandchildren, Ryan, Tara, Madison, Lauren, Alexandra, and Kendall. She is predeceased by her parents, brother, Auntie Bobbie, son, Paul, and granddaughter, Haley. She wants to be remembered by how much she loved—and was loved by—her family and friends, who will always remember the sound of her voice.
At her request, Jan will not have a service. In lieu of flowers, her family welcomes and appreciates donations to Community Hospice House in Merrimack: 210 Naticook Rd Merrimack, NH 03054.
