

She was born in Brockton, MA, on November 15, 1938, the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie (Doumarsaris) Marandos.
Joanne graduated from Nashua High School, Class of 1957. She attended several colleges including Keene Teacher's College, and Boston College, where she received her Master’s Degree. She then went on to receive additional degrees from Boston University and Harvard College. Joanne was employed as a teacher for the Dover School Systems in Dover, MA. During her summers off she enjoyed working as a Boston tour guide; sharing her knowledge of the city with those she came in contact with. She was very inquisitive about many things, American and New England History being her favorite topics. Joanne enjoyed photography, archeology, and traveling. She visited many places, including Egypt, Turkey, and the Middle East. Her favorite place being China. She loved collecting Chinese and American history antiques.
In addition to her parents, Joanne is predeceased by a nephew, Anthony “Tory” Marandos in 2006.
She is survived by two brothers; Dennis Marandos of Brookline, NH, and Cosmos Marandos and his wife Linda of Nashua, NH, two nephews; Jason Marandos of Seattle, WA and Justin Marandos of Nashua, and a niece; Tara Marandos of Nashua, as well as many cousins including, Tom and Harold Tsoumas of Ma, and Paul Doumarsaris of Manchester, NH.
Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 4 PM to 8 PM at ZIS-SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME, 26 KINSLEY STREET, NASHUA, NH 03060. A Funeral Service was held at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua. Burial followed at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joanne’s name to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis Street, Nashua, NH 030602.
