John Francis Berrigan of Nashua, NH passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 21, 2013 in the loving arms of his daughter Susan and sons Mark and Jason. Jack was born in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts on October 30, 1930 to Janet (McElaney) Berrigan and John A. Berrigan. He lived a truly wonderful and full life and was loved by many.
He was a proud graduate of Boston Latin School, Boston College and BC Law School. Upon getting his law degree he entered into the United States Marine Corps as an officer. His Marine tour of duty was a tremendous honor for Jack. After an honorable discharge, he passed both the MA and NH state Bar exams. He became a prominent and respected attorney in Nashua where he settled with his wife, Colleen. He was president of the Nashua Bar Association, on the BOD of Nashua Community Council and co-founder of Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Antrim NH. He was an avid collector of stamps and books and had a passion for old movies.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 43 years, Colleen (Linscott) Berrigan.
He is survived by his daughter Susan and her husband Eric Lestandie, of Atlanta GA; son John Mark Berrigan and his wife Mei Berrigan, of Nashua; son Jason Berrigan, of Nashua; his four grandchildren, Arielle and Audrey Lestandie of Atlanta, GA, Maryfei and Kate Berrigan of Nashua; sister, Jane Moroney, of South Easton, MA and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were Friday, January 25th from 4-8pm at the Zis Sweeny Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St. Nashua, NH 03060. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester St., Nashua. Burial will be in Franklin, ME in the spring
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made out to the Nashua Special Olympics and brought to the funeral home.
