

He was born in Belmont, MA on September 14, 1928, the son of the late Joseph and Marion (Campabasso) Scarfo.
Joseph was educated in the Belmont school system, graduating from Belmont High School. He has been a Nashua resident for the past fourteen years. Joseph is a retired Chief Petty Officer for the U. S. Navy and served aboard the USS Johnnie Hutchins and the USS Monrovia. He was employed as an Operations Manager for Filenes in Burlington and Belmont, MA for twenty eight years before his retirement. Joseph was very artistic and loved to draw. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed cooking, reading, military history and was a great story teller.
He is predeceased by two brothers, James and Richard Scarfo; a sister, Barbara Cowles; and a son-in-law, Gordon Norris.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary C. (Gillis) Scarfo; a son, Paul F. Scarfo and his wife Kerry Ann of MA; four daughters, Deborah Kruchko and her husband James of FL, Susan Norris of FL, Jane Anderson and her husband Eric of Nashua, and Sally Scarfo of NY; two brothers, Robert Scarfo of MA, and Edward Scarfo and his wife Diane of GA; two sisters, Florence Brinley of MA, and Eleanor Mitchell of LA; nine grandchildren, Romy, Christopher, Stephanie, Corey, Siobhan, Brandon, Ryan, Connor, and Meghan.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 12 PM to 3 PM at ZIS-SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME, 26 KINSLEY STREET, NASHUA, NH 03060. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 3 PM. Burial will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10 AM at the N.H. State Veteran Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
