Kathleen "Kathy" Carol Kelly

She was born in Newark NJ on November 3, 1944 to Otto and Irene Pomianek. During grade school, they moved to Elizabeth NJ where she resided until her death.

Kathy attended St. Patrick’s High School where she met the love of her life, Louis Kelly. She went on to attend Elizabeth General Nursing School to become a Registered Nurse. Her career started as a nurse for Dr. Ramsey’s Pediatric Practice before becoming a Labor & Delivery Nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital (now Trinitas Hospital), where she spent most of her time caring for newborns in the hospital nursery.

Lou and Kathy married in June of 1967 and began to build and complete their family with the birth of Shawn (1969), Timothy (1976) and Erin (1978). Their loving marriage lasted nearly 50 years before her husband passed in 2016.

Kathy lived a long and happy life surrounded by many close friends and family members. She loved gardening, cut-flower bouquets, especially lilacs and roses, and spending time at the Jersey shore.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Louis (2016) and son, Shawn (2021). She is survived by her children, Capt. Timothy Kelly and his wife, Linda, of Bow, NH; Erin McGuinness and her husband, Chris, of Rahway, NJ. She was a loving and doting grandmother to her five grandchildren, Paige Kelly, Aedan Kelly, Tarrah Kelly, Brigid Kelly, and Ryan McGuinness.
