Kon Suk "Marie" Schramm

Marie lived through extraordinary times in Seoul, South Korea, enduring the Japanese occupation before working as a secretary for the United States Army during the Korean War. It was there she met Army Specialist Paul J. Schramm. Determined to build a life together, Marie navigated the formidable immigration bureaucracy of the era to marry and settle in the United States, only for Paul to answer his call to service once again in Vietnam—a testament to her unwavering resolve and courage.

Throughout her life, Marie cultivated beauty wherever she lived. Her gardens in Vermilion, Ohio, and Sun City Center, Florida, flourished under her devoted care, overflowing with vibrant vegetables and flowers that brought life and joy to all who knew her. Her kitchen was equally legendary—her fried rice and egg rolls became cherished family traditions. An avid angler, golfer, and swimmer, Marie embraced life's adventures with passion and vitality well into her later years.

Marie's entrepreneurial spirit defined her remarkable life. Always looking for opportunities Marie could be found styling and cutting hair of neighbors and friends, selling fuel additives and health supplements. She built a thriving food truck business at Fenwick Marine in Oak Harbor,Ohio, serving countless customers with her signature coffee and breakfast sandwiches. She later established and operated the Chatterbox restaurant in Amherst, Ohio, while simultaneously owning and managing multiple rental properties throughout Lorain, Ohio. Marie was a woman who not only dreamed but created and sustained her own success.

Marie was preceded in death by her 3 sisters and brother, husband Paul and twin daughters. She is survived by her sons Paul D. Schramm of Tampa, FL; Christopher J. Schramm of Cleveland, OH; and Russell Schramm and Eileen Dionisio of Bedford, NH; three grandchildren: Sydney and Angela Schramm of Bogota, New Jersey; Katelyn Schramm of West Hartford, Connecticut; and Luke Schramm of Nashville, Tennessee; and one great-granddaughter, Isla Amihan Schramm, daughter of Sydney and Angela.
