

Louis Georgopoulos, 87, a life-long resident of Nashua, NH passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Southern NH Medical Center, Nashua. He was born July 25, 1927 in Nashua, a son of the late Demetrius and Gertrude (Koutoulos) Georgopoulos.
Mr. Georgopoulos was a graduate of Nashua High School, played high school baseball, and was an avid New England sports fan, but especially loved his Boston Red Sox. He began working in the Nashua mills in high school, however he was employed by the Nashua Department of Public Works for over 30 years. Mr. Georgopoulos was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Community as well as a member of the St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church.
He is survived by his four nieces; Demetria McKaig of Wells, ME, Cathy Ruth of Columbus, NC, Marybeth Bliss of Naples, FL and Amy McLendon of Franklin, TN and by a sister in law; Patricia Brewbaker of Summerfield, FL. He was predeceased by his dear sister; Anastasia Georgopoulos and by his beloved brothers; Arthur “Patch”, Chris and George Georgopoulos.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11:00 am in the St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis St., Nashua. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service on Thursday in the church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The Humane Society for Greater Nashua. The Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua is assisting the family.
