Margaret Mary Hickey

Margaret Mary (McKenzie) Hickey passed away on October 2, 2025 at Premier Healthcare, Nashua, NH at the age of 89. Margaret (Margie) was born and raised in England, with her brother Robert and sisters Elizabeth and Jeanette. In Margie’s early years she was sent to the countryside for safety, with her sister Jeanette during the bombing of England in WWII. The bond that formed between the two siblings and her inner strength lasted a lifetime. She went on to become the captain of her school’s soccer team and Head Girl (Valedictorian).

In adulthood Margie married Don Terrio (USAF). The two lived in England and throughout the US and Canada, finally settling in Nashua. Together they raised their four children, Donna, Wayne, William and Gary.

Margie had many hobbies including reading, sewing, knitting, cloth painting, gardening, bird watching and sports. Swimming was a passion of hers, passed down by her father who was a swimmer and played water polo in Scotland. The ocean was her special place.

Margie lived a rich full life and will be remembered for her vigor, strength, love of people and her sense of humor. She had a poem taped to her mirror which embodies her in every way: “I pray to have the kind of eyes that always see the good in people, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad and a soul that never loses faith.” In the end she said “I had a good life.”

Margaret was preceded in death by Don Terrio and Thomas Hickey (husband) and aforementioned siblings. Margaret is survived by her children Donna, Wayne, William and Gary Terrio; grandchildren Gabrielle and Danielle LaLone and Austin Terrio, Carli, Dallas Terrio, Taylor Terrio, Christopher Terrio, Katie Terrio, Marcus Terrio and Don Terrio; many great-grandchildren, family and friends too numerous to mention (apologies).
