Maurice A. Tremblay, 91, of Nashua, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 2, following a long illness. Born on November, 5, 1931 in Nashua, he was the son of the late Louis and Grace (Coulombe) Tremblay.
Maurice was a lifelong resident of Nashua, where he attended St. Alyosius School and then Sacred Heart Academy where he become a choir member. He honorably served his country in the National Guard for 2 years and then in the United States Army for 8 years during the Korean War. On August 1, 1953 he married the love of his life Irene J. Belanger and spent 69 loving years together. Maurice was a hard worker, he worked for 55 years as a machinist at the International Paper Box Machine Co., and also worked as a real estate agent, and a funeral attendant at Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home until he finally retired at the age of 82.
He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Parish where he served as an Eucharist Minister, alter server, greeter and volunteered with the share program. He was also a member of the American Legion. As a young man and father, he enjoyed roller skating and ice skating, gardening, cars, fishing with his grandsons, traveling with the seniors, walking around Nashua with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Irene J. (Belanger) Tremblay; daughters Denise Jette and her husband Donald, Ann Marie Cotreau and her husband Douglas; brother Roland Tremblay and his wife Janice; sisters Lorraine Brown, Janette Parkinson, Annette Carter; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sisters Beatrice Kerouac, and Laurette Gillis.
A visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, February 9 at Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home located at 26 Kinsley St, Nashua NH. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, February 10 at St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Parish located at 48 W. Hollis St, Nashua NH with burial to immediately follow at St. Louis De Gonzague Cemetery located at 752 W. Hollis St, Nashua NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered in Maurice’s memory to Home Health & Hospice Care.
