

Robert L. Allen, 87 years old, of Nashua, NH, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. He was born August 10, 1926 in Leominster, MA. He was the son of the late Louis Allen, former Mayor of Leominster, MA and Yvonne (Bilodeau) Allen.
Robert was the husband of Suzanne (Aldrich) Allen of Nashua, NH with whom he shared a total of 20 years of togetherness which included 13 years of marriage. He was previously married to Margaret (Holden) Allen of Leominster, MA, who died in 1990.
He was a WWII veteran and served in the Okinawa Campaign. Prior to the Okinawa Campaign, Robert was stationed in Southport, North Carolina performing anti-submarine duty searching for enemy subs along the southern coastline. He was a Boatswain Mate in the Asiatic Pacific from 1944-1946 on the LST 832 and the LCT 1412.
Mr. Allen was employed with Brockway Plastics in Nashua, NH, from where he retired in 1983, and Sterilite Corporation in Townsend, MA, where he was employed part time following his retirement. During his Engineering career, he was a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers and the American Society of Metallurgy.
Besides his loving wife, Suzanne, survivors include three daughters and their spouses, Grace and Budd Miller of Gardner, MA, Gail Allen and her significant other, Horace McKee of Townsend, MA and Gloria and Paul Crisostamo of Leominster, MA. He was also blessed with two step-sons and their significant others, Richard Cole and Sherri Noel of Uxbridge, MA and Kevin Cole and Michelle D’Avanzo of Nashua, NH; two granddaughters, Carina Parkhurst-Allen and Amanda Cole-Donnelly, a grandson, Nicholas Cole, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Arlene Holleran of Leominster, MA, Gloria (deceased) and Bernie Shultz of Fitchburg, MA, Pauline Glenny of Fitchburg, MA, Yolande Picard and Richard Reissman of Ashby, MA, two brothers, Norman Allen (deceased) and Arthur Allen and his wife MaryAnn Allen of Ashby, MA, two brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Mildred Aldrich of Hudson, NH and Allen and Sandra Aldrich of Cranford, NJ, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua.
