Sandra was born in North Stratford, NH on June 6, 1945, a daughter of the late Eva (Mills) and Shirley Stevens. She grew up on the family farm in Bloomfield, Vermont and graduated from Stratford High School, class of 1963. It was there she met the love of her life, James (Jimmy) Sheltry, and together they moved to Southern NH to raise their family. Over the years, Sandra and Jimmy owned several successful businesses and would later enjoy an early-retirement adventure in Alaska until Jim's death in 1993.
Sandra loved a good DIY project and was always working on something creative. She was tough when she needed to be and knew when to listen and be supportive. Sandra was dry and quick-witted, tenacious and determined. Most of all, Sandra was fun, she loved to laugh. She employed all these attributes to proudly fundraise for MS and would later become the voice for residents who no longer had one at the nursing home where she served as President of the Resident Council.
Sandra leaves behind a son, Robert Sheltry and his wife Jill of Cantonment, Florida; a daughter, Diana Tompkins and her husband Mark of Derry, NH; her loving grandchildren, Ryan, Evan and his wife Selena, Danielle and Keenan. She also leaves behind a brother, Burton of California, a niece, Bonnie, a great nephew Bryce, several special Aunts and Uncles and a very dear sister-in-law, Diane of Goffstown, NH. She is predeceased by her husband James, her sister Janice, her brother Fred and her nephew, Michael.
There are no calling hours. The family will celebrate Sandra's life privately later this month. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org
