Sikt Grote of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1st, at the Community Hospice Center in Merrimack, NH. Born in St. Louis, MO, on June 14th, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Rolf and Ruth Grote and was raised in New York and Connecticut.
A true Renaissance woman, Sikt’s passions drove her to pursue many diverse fields. During her employment years, she was a Master Electrician and established her own electrical services company. Her interest in computers led her to Boston University to complete courses in computer networking and at the same time, received her MBA in Finance at UNH. This led to her becoming the CFO of several nonprofit organizations.
In addition to her lifelong pursuit of the perfect bowl of chili, Sikt loved her music. Over the years, she played the violin, several guitars, keyboards and the banjo. Her true love, however, was her support of animals in need. She was tireless in her crusades to help them, particularly horses and the many homeless dogs and cats. She was on the board of the Cocheco Valley Humane Society in Dover, NH for many years.
Sikt was a beloved sister, cousin and friend to many people worldwide. She is survived by her brother, Rolf, in Durham, CT, her cousin Jan Billington in San Diego, CA and her best friends Lee, Louisa and Skye in her home in Nashua. She is deeply loved and will be forever remembered by her family and friends.
