Susan Shanahan

March 29, 1962July 15, 2018

Susan J. (McCallum) Shanahan, age 56, died July 15, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with a neuro muscular disease. Much credit goes to her husband for the loving care he gave her at home for the past 11 years. She was the wife of Shawn R. Shanahan. She was born in Fayetteville, NC on March 29, 1962, when her father was on active duty with the National Guard. She was the daughter of the late Richard C. McCallum, and Nancy S. (Cantara) McCallum. She was a lifelong resident of Nashua and was a 1980 graduate of Nashua High School. She was also a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing. She met her husband while she was a member of the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corp in high school. She was a dedicated wife and mother who always put her family first. Her favorite pastime was sunbathing in her backyard, when she had the time to do so.

Before her retirement due to illness, she had been employed at Dr. Richard Dai’s office for over 20 years. She was a very caring and compassionate nurse who was known as “The nurse with the long Hair.” She loved her patients and loved her work there. She was predeceased by her father, Richard McCallum, her sister-in-law, Lynn McCallum, and her mother-in-law, Jewel Shanahan Fournier. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son and daughter- in-law, Tyler and Katie Shanahan, her daughter and son-in-law Tawny and Brian Wesolowski, her three grandchildren, Connor Shanahan, Isabella and Dominic Wesolowski, her mother, Nancy McCallum, her brother and sister-in-law Daniel and Linda McCallum, three brothers-in-law, Thomas (Tim) Shanahan of Vermont, Michael and Nancy Shanahan of Holderness, NH, Scott and Toy Shanahan of Wisconsin, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins.

My condolences to the entire family. I have fond memories of Sue from my childhood trips to N.H. and the time the McCallum family camped out in our yard here in N.Y.

Remembering the goods times...playing creepy crawlers when we were kids. The Velveteen Rabbit at your wedding . The boys finding each other and becoming buddies . Tawny baby sitting Maddie...
You have finally found peace. May your family find strength in the good memories.
Watch over those babies and laugh your butt off at their antics❤️💔❤️💔
