

He was born and raised in Lynn, MA, was a graduate of St. Mary’s boys high school in Lynn, earned a BSBA at Boston College and an MBA from Lesley College. He served in the US Army stationed in Korea from 1953-1955.
Bill’s extensive career in Management began at Transitron in Wakefield, MA, continuing jawith many other roles in various industries and capacities, culminating with retiring from Hewlett Packard in 1992. He and Fran enjoyed 33 years of retirement where they spent 27 years at Highland Lakes in Leesburg, FL. Bill became part of a close-knit golf foursome and also worked on many community projects to make Highland Lakes an even better place to live. He developed an interest in woodworking and made many pieces of furniture for his children and toys for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Fran (Moriarty) Martel, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage, his children: Bill Martel Jr (Barbara) of Tolland CT, Michele Archambault of Newmarket NH, Marie Weber (Stuart), Patrice Williams of Woodbridge VA, Jeanne Carignan (Bob) of Dover NH, Marc Martel of Contoocook NH, Leslie Johnson (Josh Gibbs) of Newmarket NH, Luke Martel (Tracy) of Exeter NH, his sisters Marilyn Cole of Lynn MA, Patricia Jaras of Peabody MA, and sisters-in-law: Maureen Martel of Lynn MA, Kathleen Fraser of Lynn MA and Millie Onos of Peabody MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Matthew, Amy and Jessica Martel, Zack, Silas Archambault, Katie Tucker, Jacob and Jared Bjornberg, Stuart Weber, Aaron and Nora Williams, Adam and Alec Carignan, Lauren, Nick and Julia Martel, Caitlin Apsey, Grace and Luke Martel and great-grandchildren: Ava Martel, Georgia and Ian Archambault, Ayla Archambautista, Walter Tucker and Evelyn Apsy. He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa, his son Matthew and his brothers Joe and Peter.
Bill also leaves behind many good friends including Gene Kellogg, who he met while working at Sylvania in Salem, and Bob Shields and Ron VanHoose whom he met while living at Highland Lakes in Leesburg. He was a friend of Bill W for 49 years.
His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Family Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
