Obituary of Earl Ray Piper
Earl R. Piper, 69, of Nashville passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 in his home with his family at his side. He was born March 16, 1954 in Indianapolis to Glenden Ray Piper and Shirley Evelyn Downing Piper. He had served for 26 years as the Brown County Coroner. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Anna Marie Frazer Piper of Nashville; his sister, Nancy E. Livingston of Nashville; a sister in law, Sue Downing of Nashville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Stephen “Scooby” Downing; a sister, Judy Napier; and a brother in law, John Livingston. Earl was a former member of the Salvation Army Church in Nashville, the New Life Church in Nashville and was a founding member and associate pastor of The Bridge of Brown County Church. At New Life Church, Earl was on the Drama Team and helped with Vacation Bible School. At the Bridge of Brown County, he led 2 Worship Teams, New Beginnings and One Voice which went out in the community and to nursing homes, he also played guitar there. In addition to being the coroner, Earl was a 30 year employee of Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home and had founded and owned InTranCo-Inc from 1990 to 2015 with his wife, Anna. He had been a magnetics engineer for 50 years. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Rick Herman officiating in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, Nashville. Visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home. Private family only burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
