Emma “Jean” Carter, 80, of Bloomington died Sunday evening April 23rd, at Garden Villa in Bloomington. Jean was born October 10, 1936 in Brown County, the daughter of Grover and Flossie (Hawkins) Shipley. Jean loved to laugh and truly cared for everyone that she came into contact with.
Jean is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Tammi Shipley, of Bloomington; her son, Mike Shipley, of Bloomington; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and two brothers, Don Shipley and Dale Shipley.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd Carter; seven brothers, Roy, Oliver, Andrew, Edward, William, Doyle and Gerald Shipley; two sisters, Margaret Percifield and Dorothy Day and three infant sisters.
An immediate burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday April 28th, at the Duncan Cemetery in Brown County. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Duncan Community Church and Christian Center.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the family to help with the funeral expenses.
