
James A. “Jim” Slear, age 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died early Saturday morning, November 11th, at Brown County Health and Living in Nashville, Indiana. Born February 11, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of James and Agnes (MacElroy) Slear. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a business administrator for Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was a gifted man with varied interests and he was very accomplished in many things: writing songs, playing soft jazz on the piano, drawing, building & remodeling things, maintaining a beautiful lawn, and making dish gardens for the hospital gift shops for many years. He was a member of Valley Mills Christian Church.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janet (Green) Slear, of Martinsville, six children, James Slear, of Rochester, New York, Ann (Tim) Beard, of Kokomo, David Slear, of Noblesville, Carrie Combes, of Kokomo, Christopher Slear, of Indianapolis, and Missi Slear Hardin, of Martinsville, eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
There will be no funeral services; a memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 3rd at 4:00 p.m. at Valley Mills Christian Church, 5555 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff at the Brown County Health and Living for their loving care of Jim over the last few years.
