
Jean was the first female commercial loan officer in the state of Indiana, retiring from AFNB in the early 1980’s. She & her late husband, Harry, then owned The French Connection in Nashville until 2007. Jean was a former member of Eastern Star, Big Brothers Big Sisters, & attended Lawrence & Nashville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include, niece, Suzanne Lake (Rudy), Greenwood, daughters, Eleanor Land (Reg), Indianapolis, Candis Slayter, OK., sons, Ronald Hugar, VA., Gene Hugar (Brenda), ID., six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, sister, Nancy Malone, CA., nieces & nephews, John Johnson (Janice), Vicky Clayton, Dennis Malone, & several great & great great nieces & nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her spouse Harry Hugar on April 27, 2004 & two sisters June Donovan & Patricia Burns.
Her funeral service will be held Monday, May23, at 2:30 P.M. at Crown Hill Gothic Chapel, Indianapolis, with Kenney Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday, May 22 at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, Nashville, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. & Monday, May 23 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at Crown Hill Gothic Chapel.
