

Jerome “Jerry” H. Mize, 83 of Nashville died Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus. He was born November 10, 1932 in Merom, Indiana to Hugh Mize and Amelia Riggle Mize. He was self-employed for many years doing odd jobs and lawn care.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Dolores Mize of Nashville; three children, Thomas Mize and wife Sue of Holland, Michigan, David Mize of Elizabethtown, Indiana and Virginia Achterhof and husband Randall of Spring Lake, Michigan; six grandchildren, T. J. Mize, David Mize, Daniél Mize, Alvin Achterhof, Jay Achterhof and Robin Achterhof; numerous great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Roberta “Jean” Mize.
Jerry had attended Harmony Baptist Church for many years. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran, he volunteered many hours at Brown County Health and Living, he had been a school crossing guard and enjoyed fishing and camping.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, June 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, with Pastor Stan Loutner officiating, burial will follow in Brown County Memorial Park with Military Honors performed by the Brown County Honor Guard. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM in the funeral home. If friends so desire, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Brown County Honor Guard.
