Kimoy Alexis Bennett

Although tragically cut short, Kimoy lived a remarkable life. Born in Kingston, Jamaica on January 20, 1986 Kimoy excelled in her studies from an early age. She met her husband, Adam while he was traveling for business in early 2004. They became engaged a few months after on a beautiful Easter Sunday in Negril, Jamaica at the famous Rick’s Cafe.

Shortly after their engagement, Kimoy was selected as a contestant for Miss Jamaica, where she finished as the runner up. Upon conclusion of the pageant ceremonies, Kimoy wasted no time beginning her life with Adam in the United States. She moved to Evansville, Indiana, and the couple married the following July. Kimoy commenced her nursing studies and earned her LPN within a few years. As a nurse, Kimoy was exactly who you wanted taking care of your loved one – kind, patient and understanding. In 2019, Kimoy proudly became a U.S. citizen.

Kimoy was fiercely loyal, effervescent and warm. She lit up every room she was in and had a remarkable gift for making every person she met feel special. Kimoy was deeply proud of her work at the Brown County Art Gallery, where she served as education director. She was especially passionate about her two programs “Make Art, Make Friends” for seniors and the Summer Children’s Art Camp. Kimoy’s exceptional grant-writing skills helped secure significant contributions for the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation, making art and art education more accessible to the community.

Kimoy was a true community fixture – serving on committees and organizations such as Leadership Brown County, and always the first to volunteer to coach Brown County Parks and Recreation baseball, basketball, and soccer teams. Kimoy was a force when it came to competition, but always gracious and inclusive.

Kimoy was most proud of those she leaves behind: her husband of twenty-one years Adam; her precious boys Samuel and Alexander, whom she adored; her mother, Winsome Hendricks; siblings Ann-Marie Jones and Leighton Jones; her American mother, Jeanne Bennett; brothers-in-law Joe and John Bennett; her beloved chocolate lab, Leo; and a slew of aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished her deeply. She was preceded in death by her dear brother-in-law Erik Bennett and loving aunt, Patricia Totton.

A celebration of Kimoy’s life will be held at the Brown County Art Gallery on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 1:00 with a graveside service following. Friends and family are invited to share fond memories and stories. We encourage you to dress colorfully to honor Kimoy’s bright spirit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kimoy’s honor to the Kimoy Gordon-Bennett Education Fund with the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation.
