Mary Janet Cullen was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sept. 13, 1932. She married Fergus Cullen in 1954 and had three children, Cheryl, Jeanne and Judy. They relocated to Bloomington in 1965, where they raised their family.
In 1974 Janet and Carrie Foley opened the Brass Ring in Antique Alley, where they entertained tourists by making beautiful jewelry on site.
Janet died Feb. 18, 2014, in Nashville, and is survived by her three daughters; two grandchildren, Zachary Toner, 18, and Alexa Toner, 14; and her son-in-law, Paul Toner.
She was loved by many for her generosity of spirit and humor.
A funeral Mass will be conducted Friday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m., preceded by a visitation at 1 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville.
