Melvin Eugene "Gene" Leggins

Melvin Eugene “Gene” Leggins, 71, of Nashville, IN passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born July 14, 1941 in Greenwood, IN the son of the late Walker Eugene Leggins and Bonnie Ellis (Seymore) Leggins.

Gene was a lifetime resident of Brown County. He liked to work with wood and Brown County stone. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, being outdoors, playing pool, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Marie (Hammock) Leggins; his three daughters, Sharon Kay (Andrew) Plamondon of Spokane, WA, Bonnie Morgan of Poland, IN, and Yvonna (James) Morgan of Brown County, IN; eight siblings, Barbara (Steve) Wickersham of Cutler, IN, Bill (Carol) Leggins of Bloomington, IN, Leonard (Claudia) Leggins of Jacksonville, NC, Edna Derringer of Columbus, IN, Judy (Rick) Ziegelbauer of Trafalgar, IN, Walker Lee (Delia) Leggins of Muncie, IN, Robert (Lisa) Leggins of Nashville, IN, and Belinda (Tim) Neff of Nashville, IN; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Allen Leggins and Kenneth W. Leggins; a sister, Elizabeth Leggins; and a granddaughter, Renee Morgan.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
