He is survived by his wife, Linda K. Sage.
Early in life, Richard graduated from Mount Pleasant HS, attended the State University of Iowa, served in U.S. Army, played Bass in Phil Devin's Silver Note Seven, and worked as the Road Manager for Woody Herman's Thundering Herd. He then worked for Bell & Howell in Chicago in the packaging department, and as a District Sales Manager, eventually moving to independent sales rep covering the Midwest. His passions included driving his classic Mini around the curving roads of Brown County IN, gardening, and his pets.
