
Tania O. Firebaugh Doran, age 88, formerly of Robinson, IL, Brownsburg and Indianapolis, died Saturday afternoon in the Brown County Health and Living Community in Nashville. Born February 13, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Richard David and Olga (Delutsky) Firebaugh. She was a loving wife and mother. Earlier in her life, she was a private charter pilot flying air ambulances. In the mid-1960’s she was named “Pilot of the Year” at Sky Harbor airport in Indianapolis. She was very gifted musically, being able to play several different musical instruments and played with the Hendricks County Ramblers, a group that played primarily in local nursing facilities. She knew how to build radios and televisions, traveled the world as an avid bird watcher and crocheted many lap blankets for several hospital and nursing home residents.
She is survived by her two daughters; Tania Frederick Doran, of Nashville and Betsy Turnquist, of Indianapolis; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard C. “Dick” and MaryEllen Doran, of Dedham, Massachusetts, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, J. Hal Doran, M.D.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 4 at 3:30 P.M. at the Hoosier Village Great Hall; 5600 W. 96th St.; Indianapolis, IN The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 P.M. Sunday prior to the memorial service. There will also be a reception from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at her Brownsburg residence, 10929 E.750 North.
