

Wilma “Jean” Findley Harmon, 92, Nashville passed away April 19 in Nashville. She was born in Brown County September 16, 1922 the daughter of Wendell and Doris (Richardson) Findley. She was the salutatorian in 1940 of Union High School in Johnson County. Jean graduated in 1943 from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Indianapolis, as a registered nurse. She married Wendell Garner Fleener in 1950 and Ivan Robert “Bob” Harmon in 1970.Jean began her career as a surgical nurse at Methodist Hospital and continued as head nurse of obstetrics at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Franklin. While there Jean helped found the Gray Ladies volunteers. She was administrator of two nursing homes and retired as head nurse at IUPUI Student Health. After moving to Brown County she was a real estate agent with Abe Martin and Village realities.Jean was active as a member of Nashville Christian Church since 1976, lifelong member of Johnson County Home Economics Club, founder of 49ers Club, member of The Traveling 10, named Woman of the Year 1988 for Brown County Business and Professional Women. She volunteered for local Red Cross blood drives and fund raising activities of the local Lions Club and Brown County Volunteer Fire Department. Jean loved hunting mushrooms, making candy (especially peanut brittle), playing cards and gardening.
Jean is survived by her children, Kathy Fleener LeValley (Mark), Dallas, TX, Keith Fleener, Nashville, Kent Fleener (Sandra), Black Mountain, NC, and step children, Tom Harmon (Susan), Whitestown and Kathy Harmon, Indianapolis, her grandchildren, Zachery Fleener (Terri), South Lyon, MI, Clayton Fleener, Indianapolis, Marshall and Wendi Fleener, NC, her step grandchildren, Christian and Collin Harmon-Hodge, Indianapolis, Kelsey and Andrew Williamson, Zionsville, Brant Harmon (Sara), Bangkok, Thailand, Alica Blattner(Eric), Prattville, AL, Amanda Boggess (Cory), Whitestown, Amy Harmon (Bryan Wood), Lebanon, and John “Andrew” Harmon, Indianapolis, great grandchildren, Eli and Emerson Fleener, Avery, Delynn and Lydia Harmon, Addi, Alexis and Drake Blattner, Caden Boggess, and Oliver Wood, her siblings, Merrarose Findley Mosburg (Mike), Bargersville, Dewey Findley (Kay), Franklin, Norman Findley (Martha Ann), Bargersville, and sister in law, Betty Gregory, Zionsville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ivan Robert Harmon, and brothers, William Findley, Roger Findley, and Oral Keith Findley.
Her funeral service will be Sunday, April 26 at 3:00 P.M. at Nashville Christian Church with Tim Bond officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 1:00P.M.-3:00P.M.
