

Adel was born on December 19, 1952, in Cairo, Egypt, to Mary Gerges Persekian and Edward Shukry Persekian. His father had a career at the American Embassy in Cairo, where they lived until Adel was 12. His family immigrated to Alexandria, VA, in 1964.
Adel graduated from George Washington High School then immediately served in the Army. He spent his time in service overseas in Turkey, where he specialized as a tech controller. Following his time in the Army, Adel attended Radford University, where he graduated with a degree in English. Later in life, he also obtained a master's degree from George Mason University in Software Systems Engineering. Adel had a long, successful career as a software engineer that spanned over 30 years.
Adel had many interests and passions in life. He was an extraordinary chef and was widely known by the community for his baked goods. Adel loved gardening and spending time outdoors, especially going fishing and taking long walks with his dog. He had a true love for literature and was passionate about music. He loved to keep busy with home projects, attending his children’s sporting events throughout their childhood and high school years, and working on puzzles of all sorts. Adel was a phenomenal father and always put his children first.
Adel was predeceased by his brother Essam “Sam” Persekian, and his parents, Mary and Edward Persekian. He is survived by his three children, Matthew Persekian and his wife Caitlin of Columbus, OH, Lizzie McKeand and her husband Bert of Nashville, TN, and Eleanor Hays and her husband Wilson of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his first grandchild, Bert McKeand III.
After living in Virginia for the majority of his life, Adel spent his final years in Nashville, TN, to be closer to his family. Adel was a humble, loving, and fair individual. A private service for Adel will be held in Nashville on March 8, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Nashville Humane Society or the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
