Agnes Corinne Brady Burnett born on November 14, 1924, and passed way on May 11, 2016. Corinne was born to Thomas Oliver Brady and Eulah Tillman Brady on November 14, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of West Nashville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her five sisters Marion Brady McGowan, Evelyn Brady Hoover, Alma Brady Buquo and Dorothy Brady Gibson, and her beloved daughter Carol Sue Burnett, who died at age 14 of leukemia.
She is survived by her husband Lewis Glenn Burnett, Sr., her children L.G. Burnett, Jr. (Mary), and Lou Ann Burnett Brown (Gary), and grandchildren Katharine Aileen Burnett, PhD, Patrick Austin Burnett and Lewis Garrett Brown of Nashville, TN and Jane Marie Brown of Brooklyn, NY, beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends Bill and Margie Bass and Gloria Duncan.
She was married to her true love, Lewis Glenn Burnett, for 73 years. They locked eyes at Bellevue High School, and the rest was history. Through World War II, the loss of a child, and many other challenges, they always took comfort in each other. They loved attending University of Tennessee football games over the decades and later watched all the UT teams compete on television. They watched birds, fished, and took many wonderful trips with family and friends.
Corinne took delight in her family, her church-- first Richland Baptist and then Brook Hollow Baptist-- her friends and the beauty of the natural world. She was trained as a flower show judge and was a member of Rich West Garden Club and the Tennessee Arrangers and Growers Society (TAGS). She adored wild flowers and orchids equally, and likewise appreciated fine art as well as pop culture. She was a proud, adoring mother and grandmother who always supported and praised the accomplishments and talents of all.
The Burnett family acknowledges with deep gratitude the tender loving care of the staff at Brookdale Belle Meade, especially Ben Scott, nurses Jason Staggs, Rebecca Gawlick and Vernonda Irlinger, and Sandy Nahmias, caregivers Angela Thomas, Deborah Williams, Essence Love, Marc and Stacey Harris, Starlene Smith, Willella Smith, Kim Smith, Rosie Smith, Darcel Jackson, Janice Hamilton, Keri Muckenthaler.
