Albert Oliver (Pete) Brumfield, Jr. was born on June 12th, 1939, in the Walker’s Bridge community of South Mississippi. He was the youngest child of Albert Oliver Brumfield, Sr. and Ruby Simmons Brumfield. He died at his home in Nashville, TN on December 3rd, 2025, and he was preceded in death by his parents and his ten elder siblings.
Following college, Albert enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Sewart Air Force Base in Smyrna, TN. During that time, he met his wife of 52 years, Marie Griffith Brumfield. He is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Angela Otis (Jessi); son, Ab (Raven); three grandchildren, Haylee, Jacob, and Grayson; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Joan Jacobs, Bernie and Jerry Bland, Jenny Brumfield, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Albert was full of love and happiness, and nothing brought more joy to him than his family and all of the wonderful relationships that he built during his lifetime. Following a 30 year career with BellSouth/AT&T, he retired at the age of 57 to be able to focus his time on doing the things that he loved the most. A few of the things that brought him joy were cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels, driving around in his 1974 MGB with Marie, sitting outside with his cats by his side, taking trips to the beach with Jimmy Buffett as the soundtrack, walking countless miles on the greenways of Nashville, growing the perfect tomato in his backyard, and even watching the monarchs in his butterfly garden.
But nothing brought him more joy than the time that he spent with his family and friends. He cared so deeply for those that he loved, and he always managed to make everyone around him feel special. Family always came first in his life, and there was nothing that he wouldn’t do to help someone in need. His grandchildren--Haylee, Jacob, and Grayson--were his pride and joy and the light of his life.
Visitation will be held at the Church of the Holy Rosary in Nashville, TN at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 9. The funeral service will be held immediately afterwards at 12:00 PM. Burial is to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
