

Aldene Weaver Wertz, age 99, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Born on June 2, 1926, in Johnsonville, Illinois, Aldene Wertz lived a vibrant and purposeful life centered around family, faith, and friendship.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother who raised four children and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A naturally sociable person, she maintained a full calendar and many friendships throughout her life. Aldene believed in the importance of having a purpose to each day and she lived by that principle until the end. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the family she so lovingly nurtured.
Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Robert “Bob” Wertz, her parents, Henry and Ella Weaver, son Douglas Wertz, great-grandson William Burns, and sisters Mary Edith Simpson, Elaine Land. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Bill) Tierney, Nancy Cox, and Janet Henderson; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Connelly, Ryan (Natalie) Tierney, Stephanie (Josh) Burns, Leigh-Ann (Brandon) Johnson, Lauren Henderson, and Shannon Henderson; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 noon, at St. Paul Senior Living Community, Nashville, TN, with a burial service Tuesday September 9th at 10:00 a.m. in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois.
