It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Martin Rogers, age 91, of Nashville, TN on Saturday, September 26, 2020. She was born March 12, 1929 to Gilbert Edward and Sadie Lee Martin. She married the love of her life, Walter Eugene Rogers, in December 1947 and they spent 55 years together before his passing. She spent many of her years raising her four children as well as caring for her mother, aunts, and grandchildren. She was a dedicated secretary at Wade Elementary as well as Jordonia Elementary and found joy in assisting the children. She volunteered much of her time at the United Methodist Womenโ€™s club and taught children at the Scottsboro United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader of biographies and found special delight in playing piano through all seasons of her life.

She is survived by her brother, Charles Martin (wife Francis); children Sharon Work (husband James), Martin Rogers (wife Nancy), Carol Malone, and Don Rogers; grandchildren Laura Chambers (husband Christopher), Rachel Shore (husband Brian), Walter Malone (wife Amanda), Catherine Martin (husband Matthew), Zane Malone (wife Lora), and Hannah Malone; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Roger played a huge role in my life. I remember how much fun I would have when we came to Nashville and stayed with them. We would often come in last at night and she would be standing on the porch with that big smile of hers to welcome us. Each morning she would get up and make a wonderful breakfast for us. When each of my kids were born I made sure to stop and see her as we traveled home to mom and dad's, I have a picture of her with her big smile hold each of my children. I can still hear her voice and see that smile as I think of her. She will be missed by so many. We wish we could be at the service but please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
