Alton Don Ferrell

Alton Don Ferrell, age 86, passed away on October 16, 2013. Mr. Ferrell was born and raised in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Ann Peyton and William McDonald Ferrell and his older brother, William Dee Ferrell. He is survived by his wife, Martha Jean Robertson Ferrell; his younger brother, Carl Ferrell of Chattanooga, TN.; and his two sons, Tom Ferrell and Bobby Ferrell of Nashville. Mr. Ferrell is also survived by five grandchildren - Katheryn Ferrell Titsworth of Keller, TX; David Jackson Ferrell of Ft. Worth, TX; James Peter Ferrell, Captain, USAF; Zackary Peyton Ferrell of Chattanooga, TN; Ellie Lynn Ferrell of Nashville, TN. – and three great grandchildren – Reese, Beau, and Charlotte Titsworth of Keller, TX.

After his service in the United States Navy, Mr. Ferrell graduated from MTSU in 1950. Early in his career he worked in a variety of sales positions. In 1958 he and his family moved to Nashville where he began work in the finance divisions of both American Motors and Chrysler. The highlight of his career was as a partner with two other good men in a retail business based in Nashville.

Don was a long-time member of Lincoya Hills Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #131 in Nashville as well as a member of the Donelson Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Ferrell was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a very caring and generous man. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home in Donelson. A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro, TN. Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoya Hills Baptist Church or to Alive Hospice of Nashville.
