

Mykitta, Alvin William (Bill), 86, of Chattanooga passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, at the East Ridge Life Care Center. Bill lived most of his life in Nashville, but lived in Chattanooga for the last twelve years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard G. and Elizabeth Mykitta and his beloved wife Sarah Yates Mykitta. For the last 26 years of his career he was the payroll supervisor for the City of Nashville and Davidson County. Prior to that, he owned the Congress Inn and the Thompson Fruit Company.
Bill was the first college graduate in his family. He loved dancing of all sorts, especially choreographed ballroom dancing, and flying his private airplane. He was a 50-year member and former Worshipful Master of Cumberland Lodge # 8 of the Masons. Bill enjoyed traveling and was an excellent golfer and bridge player. He attended Chattanooga Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard S. and Leslie Mykitta; grandsons, Alan Mykitta and fiancée Kim Allen, and Kyle and wife Dianella Mykitta, all of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter, Mandy Mykitta of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; stepdaughters, Sylvia Silva and Janie Slade of Murfreesboro and Shelley Blaylock of Nashville; and dance partner/companion Jacque Benderman of Chattanooga.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at one o’ clock in the afternoon on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Elder Andrew Huffman will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held from ten o’ clock in the morning until one at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Saturday, November 8, 2014 with a masonic service being held at twelve.
