

Angela Flores Smith age 96, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017, following an extended illness. She was born July 2, 1920, in Kansas City, Kansas. One of 8 girls born to Josephine and Ignacio Flores. Mrs. Smith graduated from University of Kansas in 1943, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was a member of Pi Lambda Theta. Following graduation, moved to California and during WWII, she was employed by North American Aviation Corporation. It was there that she met her future husband, Alexander MacDowell Smith Jr. They married on August 5, 1947, and were married for over sixty years. They moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1954. She was a longtime Member of First Presbyterian Church on Franklin Rd., Centennial Club, Cheekwood, and a lifetime member of the Ladies Hermitage Association. Surviving are her children: Douglass Ann Smith of Savannah, Ga. and Alexander MacDowell Smith III (Elizabeth) of Brentwood, Tennessee., grandchildren, Brian (Sherry) Murray & Noel (Donna Bowman) Murray and 4 great grandchildren. Sisters; Theresa Allen, and Carol Blum. Nephew, James Martin Miller Jr.(Debbie). Numerous great nieces & great nephews. The family will receive friends at First Presbyterian Church in the Cheek House on Wednesday April 19 at 3:00 P.M. Followed by the Memorial Service in the Stanford Chapel inside the Cheek House at 5:00 P.M. with Dr. Sandra Randleman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Alive Hospice of Nashville Tennessee, 1718 Patterson St. Nashville, Tn. 37203.
