

She was born in Nashville, TN to Reuben P Brinton, Sr. and Kathryn Deberry Scarborough and spent her early life with her aunt Willie Reeves Claxton and her uncle Marvin Hershel Claxton in Clarksville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years Josiah Ewing Hutton, Sr., her husband of five years John L. Boone, her parents, her aunt and uncle, sister Jean Brinton Quillen, brothers Reuben P Brinton, Jr. and Larry Bauman Brinton, and her nephew Donald Langley Brinton. She is survived by two sons, Josiah Ewing Hutton, Jr., (Eileen Monaco) of Winter Haven, FL, and William Davidson Hutton (Lauren Schiffer) of Acton, MA, and grandchildren, Kyle Davidson Hutton, Josiah Ewing Hutton, III, and Samantha Ann Schneeberger (Hutton), and great grandchildren, Jackson Robert Schneeberger, Noah Fox Schneeberger, Zoe Liza Hutton, and Owen William Hutton. She is survived by nephews and nieces Britt Miller Quillen, Larry Bauman Brinton, Jr., Michael Walden Brinton, Susan Brinton Brackin, David Lawrence Brinton, Janet Brinton Trusty, and Micheal E. Haynes.
After graduating from Vanderbilt/Peabody, she taught at Eakin School and later at St. Henry School. She also worked for Fridrich & Clark Realtors for many years.
She served on the Board of Nashville Children’s Theatre and the James K. Polk Memorial Association. She served as a Director of the Centennial Club and as a Docent at Cheekwood.
Active in community and civic affairs, she was a member of Vanderbilt Alumni Association, Vanderbilt Aid Society, Vanderbilt College Board, Nashville Board of Realtors, Horizon Book Club, and the Sewing Club. She was a life member the Nashville Symphony Guild, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Vanderbilt Blair School of Music, and Ladies Hermitage Association. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Nashville, TN since 1953.
Visitation with the family will be held on June 7 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in the Cheek House at First Presbyterian Church of Nashville, 4815 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220. A Celebration of Life service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am in the Stanford Chapel.
