Barbara was a 1970 graduate of Donelson High School. She attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Following college, she began a career with American Petroleum Institute and retired after 32 years of service as an office manager.
Barbara met Wayne Butner in 1981 and they were married for 40 years. Barbara and Wayne enjoyed their trips to Florida, spending time at the ocean and watching their favorite sports, NASCAR, Tennessee Titans and the Vanderbilt Commodores. Barbara especially loved children and family events. She always enjoyed hosting and Easter was a big event for them at their home.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Wayne Butner, sisters, Sandra Elliott and Donna Elliott; brothers, Wayne Elliott and Gary Elliott; stepchildren, Traci Butner and Terry Butner; and a granddaughter, Summer. Barbara also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 1:00 – 4:00PM at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 13, 2025 at 1:00PM in the Garden of Devotion at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Pike Rd. Nashville, TN.
