Barbara Ann Adams Hunt passed away at Alive hospice of Nashville on August 17, 2026 at the age of 87. She was born in Columbia, TN, the youngest of 12 children, and spent her childhood on a farm in Maury County.
After she completed high school at Columbia Central High School, she left Maury County for Nashville and was proud to live in her first apartment at the YWCA, to use her secretarial skills working for the city, and to meet Robert Hunt, who would become her husband. The two lived in both Nashville and later Knoxville before buying their beloved home in Green Hills, in which they raised their baby girl, Amanda.
She used her administrative talent in office jobs, working for WDCN and Metro Board of Education, among others. She spent her retired years traveling to France to spend time with her grandchildren.
She loved to cook and always made Sunday dinner. She was a gifted seamstress, making Easter dresses and Halloween costumes for her daughter and grandchildren, and designing her own curtains. She loved all babies and puppies, and her own dog Mitzi in particular. She was a dedicated shopper, and she loved a sharp suit, and a good sale. She was feisty, funny, and strong-willed; she fought hard to stay in this world as long as possible, despite a long battle with numerous illnesses.
She is survived by her husband Robert, of Nashville, her daughter Amanda (Thierry) of Fillinges, France, and her grandchildren, Justine and David.
The family will receive friends and family at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 9:30am - 11:30am, with a service to follow on site at 11:30am.
