Barbara Helen Pendley, age 91, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026. She was born on March 5, 1935, in Letcher County, Kentucky, to parents Reuben and Bertha Smith. She was a loving, caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; a longtime resident of Donelson, Tennessee; and, a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Donelson. She was a woman of deep Christian faith and her life was a blessing, making an impact on all the lives she touched. She will be missed beyond measure.
Preceded in death by husband William C. Pendley of 66 years; by parents Reuben and Bertha Smith; and, brothers Monford, Raymond, George and Bill and sisters Marjorie Lucas and Imogene Newsome. Survived by sons Barry (Jalana), Phil (Karen), Rodney and daughter Brenda (Jesse) Adcox. Grandchildren Justin (Cortney) Pendley, A. Edgar (Courtney) Pendley, Amanda (Chase) Barnabi, Shiphrah Campbell, Phillip Pendley and Samantha Pendley. Great grandchildren William Pendley, Riya Brown, Wiley Pendley, Sunday Pendley, Joanna Pendley and Madelyn Barnabi. Brother Don Smith, sisters Betty Jo Johnson and Beulah Tucker.
Funeral service to be held on July 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, Tennessee, followed by interment at the Mount Olivet Cemetery “Garden of the Gospel.”
Donations are requested in lieu of flowers to the International Mission Board for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and the Nashville Rescue Mission.
