Barbara Ann (Harris) Watson, age 79, went to be with Jesus on July 27, 2020 at her home in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on January 17, 1941 in Woodbury, Tennessee. Barbara is preceded in death by her loving sister, Linda Sue Springer; her dear aunt, Christine Gantzer; and Guerry Watson, her beloved husband of 46 years.
She is survived by her five children, Guerry Watson, Jr. (Diane), Toni Donegan (Brent), Cyndi Adams (Will), Christy King (David), and Stephen Watson (Stacey); eleven grandchildren, Rachel Donegan, Hunter Watson (Sloane), Matthew Donegan (Kristi), Mary Beth Bever (Austin), Palmer Adams, Makenzie King, Abby Richardson (Mack), Grayson Watson, Emily King, Ellee Watson, and Izzy Watson; one great-granddaughter, Hallie Donegan; one niece, Jackie Melvin (Chester); one nephew, Aaron Springer; and one grandniece, Jessica Melvin.
Barbara was a 1959 graduate of East Nashville High School and an active member of Una Church of Christ since 1964. She taught 6th grade Sunday School for several years and worked at For Kids Only daycare center for over ten years, retiring in 2003.
Barbara was known for her sharp sense of humor, her excellent cooking, her constant faith, and her deep generosity. She was a devoted wife, mother, Granny, and friend. Barbara was most in her element at weddings, baby and bridal showers, and funerals—she would work the room to talk, laugh, and cry with everyone there. No matter the occasion, Barbara strove to make people feel welcome and special. Nobody stayed a stranger for very long. She will be greatly missed by many.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 30th, 2020 at eleven o’clock in Woodlawn Memorial Park with Todd Elliott and Jon Reynolds officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter Watson, Matthew Donegan, Palmer Adams, Austin Bever, Mack Richardson, Brent Donegan, Will Adams, and David King.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for Kindred Hospice, the Una Church of Christ Youth Group, Ezell-Harding Christian School, Lipscomb Academy, or Goodpasture Christian School.
